'X-Men' spinoff poll: Which X-Men character should get their own movie?

On May 23, Fox will release X-Men: Days of Future Past, the studio’s bold attempt to connect the various strands of its decade-old mutant franchise. And Fox has already made plans for further expansion of the X-Men universe. X-Men: Apocalypse will open in 2016, followed by another Wolverine film in 2017. The studio has also announced a Marvel film for summer 2018 — the precise nature of which remains TBD.

Whether or not the 2018 project is an X-Men film, it’s clear that Fox wants to make a wider variety of X-Men movies. After X-Men Origins: Wolverine, much noise was made about the possibility of a Deadpool spinoff starring Ryan Reynolds — a spinoff that has been in various stages of non-development for years. The same is true for the character Gambit, played by Taylor Kitsch in XMOW and popular with anyone who remembers what the ’90s were. But it’s also possible that Fox could cash in on the stardom of two of the franchise’s current stars: Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence have risen to considerable prominence since their roles in X-Men: First Class, making a Magneto spinoff or a Mystique film decidedly more interesting prospects than they would have been a few years ago.

More recently, some fans have been making noise about a possibile Storm-centric prequel. The character — played onscreen by Halle Berry — is a fan favorite, and an origin story seems tailor-made for recent Best Supporting Actress winner Lupita Nyong’o. But there’s another possibility on the horizon. Fox has been developing an X-Force film, focusing on the younger-grittier-angrier corner of the mutant universe — and a film which could theoretically introduce a whole assortment of characters, from Cable to Shatterstar to Domino and (woo!) Feral.

So which spinoff would you prefer, fellow X-people? Vote in the poll below!
