[How I Met Your Mother spoilers!]

If you watched Monday night’s How I Met Your Mother (and if not, what were you possibly doing?), then you likely have OPINIONS about what you would have liked to see go down for the series finale. (Or, maybe you thought their ending was perfect. That’s OK too!)

EW is right there with you. We asked a bunch of the biggest How I Met Your Mother fans on staff what they would have scrapped from last night, and what they would have liked to see instead. Check out some of our picks below, and then tell us what you were hoping to watch in the final installment.

Marc Snetiker: Cut out that whole Robin tag at the end, and I would have been just fine with how things wrapped up. Dead Cristin Milioti or not, the Robin bit was a huge upset, as over the years, I’ve allowed myself to stop rooting for Ted and Robin and instead root for Robin and Barney (because, oh, I don’t know, the show WANTED ME TO). I have no interest in Ted with Robin (especially with that awful Thoroughly Modern Millie wig). Cut it after Ted finishes his story, and I’m happy.

Sandra Gonzalez: There are two paths I would have loved to see. Option 1: Ideally, Robin and Barney would NOT have divorced. I realize that this would have then made Robin unavailable to be Ted’s post-Mother love, so the solution there would have been to not kill the Mother. I’m not saying she had to be in picture-perfect health, but I think implying her impending death from an illness would have had as much impact — if not more. Fatalists would then be free to assume she died, the people in denial could have pretended she was granted a miracle, and you’d still have a logical reason for Ted to be telling the story. Done and done. Option 2: If the writers were DETERMINED to have Robin and Ted end up together, it would have been easier for me to accept if Barney and The Mother were both dead and Robin and Ted were much older. Like, Front Porch-old.

Katie Atkinson: If I get a do-over, forget the finale: I’m scrapping the gimmicky concept of setting season 9 entirely over Robin and Barney’s wedding weekend. The reason the finale didn’t work in many fans’ minds is the way the creators led them to believe that their love story was just as important as Ted and Tracy’s; it never was. Instead, take the finale — which I liked, by the way — and expand its many, far worthier storylines into a traditional 24 episodes of the How I Met Your Mother we know and love, complete with Ted bringing that blue French horn to Robin at the end.

Erin Strecker: I’m cool with Barney and Robin getting divorced — or, if we can alter things even before the finale, preferably not getting married at all. I totally agree with Katie, though. My main problem was that it was just way too rushed — a whole season of nothing with then the wrong kind of payoff. I’d have preferred to see more of The Mother and Ted’s life together, because those two did have the cutest chemistry ever. In the process, I’d entirely scrap the Barney/baby plot. It was simultaneously too predictable and too out of left field.

Deven Persaud: I would’ve skipped the entire scene with Barney and the baby or just shown him with the infant but no dialog. Instead, I would’ve liked to see more of the apartment goodbye (they lived there for like 15 years!) and a post-credits scene of either Lily paying Marshall for being right about Ted and Robin, or the four of them on the front porch a la Lily’s front porch test. Oh, and finally, I would’ve given ‘oldest’ Robin a better hairstyle — that ‘do was beastly.
