'Harry Potter' stars spin futures for Draco, Ginny, and Fred at Diagon Alley preview

We always knew Scorpius Malfoy would be up to no good.

The spawn, er, son, of Draco and Astoria Malfoy turns up in the epilogue of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and is briefly glimpsed at the end of 2011’s Deathly Hallows: Part 2. So what might Scorpius be doing now that both series have wrapped?

“He would be back at home pretending to be doing homework and doing bugger all,” says Tom Felton, who played Draco in the films. “I’m sure he’d be doing something mischievous, something he shouldn’t, and following in the footsteps of his father.”

Felton spoke to EW from inside one of his alter ego’s old haunts: Dark Arts shop Borgin and Burkes, which is part of the new Diagon Alley expansion of Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The new section opens July 8. (Fun fact: Felton attended the recent media preview of the expansion with his girlfriend Jade Olivia, who appears as Draco’s wife in the last scene of Deathly Hallows.)

As for Harry himself, Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) imagines that the second-generation Potter family would find themselves befuddled by the alterna-Wizarding World at Universal—and might even meet up with the theme park’s other famous family.

“What would Harry and Ginny and the kids do here? They’d probably walk in and assume it was actually Diagon Alley and start shopping for their yearly supplies for Hogwarts,” says Wright. “I think they’d go straight to Leaky Cauldron and then take all the kids for ice cream at Florean’s. I want to believe they would go to the Simpsons land. You have this recognizable yellow Simpsons family and this Wizarding family; maybe the two could merge.”

One of the cornerstones of the new Diagon Alley is a fully operational Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes shop—selling everything from Fanged Frisbees to U-No-Poo novelty candies—and Oliver Phelps, who played George in the films, believes the shop would still be going strong even in his late brother Fred’s absence.

“George would probably try to open a chain of Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes,” says Phelps. “He was obviously doing really well with it. I think he’d have a spin-off, Fred’s Dead, and try to see the lighter side of it.”

One star who doesn’t have to guess at her character’s fate? Evanna Lynch. Rowling has said that Lynch’s beloved alter ego, Luna Lovegood, went on to marry magizoologist Rolf Scamander, grandson of Newt. Given her character’s connection to the upcoming Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Lynch is not-so-secretly hoping for a role in the film.

“I did mention, ‘How about Luna narrates the story for her grandchildren? Just have an aged voiceover,'” Lynch tells EW. “If not, I just want to be in some sort of fluffy animal suit, hiding. No one will know!”
