Nicole Richie gets cheeky in 'Candidly Nicole' extended trailer

The newly released extended trailer for Nicole Richie’s VH1 reality show Candidly Nicole is built on contradictions–to super fun results. Richie appears onscreen, describing the topics viewers can look forward to throughout the series, while cleverly woven together scenes play, all of which seem to go against the “serious” subjects she brings up.

She announces that her show is about big issues. The trailer then cuts to a clip of her saying, “I think 90210 changed the world.” You get the idea. Richie continues: It’s about race (“I’m from LA. Yes, I am Jewish”), being green (“Look at my eggs you f—ing b—h”), health issues (“I cannot see anything in my left eye. Do you think it’s because I wore side bangs?”), equal rights (re: Chickens on a gay ranch, “I can feel their tolerance”), growing up (“I’ve been having kids’ cereal my whole life. It’s the only cereal I can reach”), family (to dad, Lionel Richie, “Do you take Viagra?”), love and relationships (to a seemingly uncomfortable young man, “You’re so cute. I would bone you in one second, but you don’t want to”), connecting (while photographing a model posing, “Give me Solange in an elevator”), finding a place where you belong (silly things ensue), style (more silly things ensue), and lastly she says it’s all about her (tons of silly things ensue).

Richie is being facetious, of course. She has an amusing flair for drama that very closely resembles that of Mindy Lahiri on The Mindy Project. It’s this don’t-take-myself-too-seriously attitude that has us intrigued. The show looks almost as fun as Richie’s bright, lavender hair.

Curious? Catch Candidly Nicole when it premieres July 17 at 10 p.m. ET on VH1. For now, watch the trailer, here:
