Zac Efron goes shirtless in 'Running Wild' clip because, of course

RUNNING WILD ZAC EFRON

By now, we're all well aware that Zac Efron has a penchant for taking his shirt off—he's gone shirtless in a Nicholas Sparks romance, in a Seth Rogen comedy, even in Disney Channel Original Movies. But now he's taking it off for… a show with Bear Grylls?

Famous survivalist Bear Grylls lured in some famous friends, including Ben Stiller and Channing Tatum, to go on remote adventures with him for new NBC reality show Running Wild. For Zac Efron's episode, the two ventured into the Catskill Mountains of New York to repel down cliffs and jump out of helicopters—shirtless, of course.

In a clip from the episode, Grylls and Efron stand at the top of a high cliff, shirts still on, as Grylls goes over the plan: Take their tops off, stuff them in their backpacks, and then throw the backpacks in the water below so they'll have dry shirts waiting for them at the bottom. That Bear Grylls, so resourceful! (Or rather, those Running Wild showrunners, so attuned to what the people want!)

Efron does as he's told but lets out a grunt as he takes off his T-shirt, probably because he thought a show about going on rugged outdoor adventures was the one place where he'd be free to keep his clothes on. Sorry, Zefron. Not this time.

Running Wild premieres July 28 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
