Director George Miller has described his 2015 remake of Mad Max/The Road Warrior as one long, glorious action sequence that plays as “[visual] music for deaf people.” But the newest trailer for the film, which stars Tom Hardy as the titular post-apocalyptic hero, is brilliantly enhanced by an operatic score that makes horror and mayhem… well, beautiful.
“Everybody’s gone out of their minds,” says a man. And then, the world just goes insane. T.S. Eliot, who once predicted that the world would go out “not with a bang but a whimper,” wouldn’t have lasted a day on Fury Road.
Dear God, the horror… the horror… the delightful, rewind-and-watch-it-again horror.
