Andrew Lloyd Webber says 'Cats' is returning to Broadway

The long-running Cats closed on Broadway in 2000, but the memory may soon live again. (Sorry, had to.)

Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber told the Mail on Sunday's Event Magazinethat the show, which is currently being revived in London, "will now definitely go to Broadway again. It's very exciting." The revival features a rapping Rum Tum Tugger and stars Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger as the "Memory"-singing Grizabella.

Webber wants Scherzinger to come to Broadway. "I would very greatly hope she would do it," he said. "To do something like that in America would open up a billion doors for her."

Webber is a big fan of Scherzinger, and explained to Eventthat "she is what you might call an American theater babe," though who knows what that means. "I do believe she is the most exciting musical theater artist I have found – well, that I have worked with – in very, very many years," he said. "I really do."
