'Fantastic Four' trailer takes its cues from Christopher Nolan

Not everyone loved Interstellar, but want to know who really did? Director Josh Trank and/or the team that cut the first trailer for his Fantastic Four reboot.

Like the early teasers for Interstellar, our re-introduction to the Marvel superhero team is framed by shots of rural dirt-roads and a clever mechanic (Michael B. Jordan) who joins scientists for some adventure into the final frontier. Jamie Bell plays baseball—America’s pastime!—and Kate Mara gives Jessica Chastain a run as a laser-focused government brain. The clip even has its own Michael Caine, a narrator who establishes the existential stakes. “Human beings have an immeasurable desire to discover, to invent, to build,” says Reg E. Cathey, who reportedly plays Dr. Franklin Storm. “Our future depends on us furthering these ideals, a responsibility that rests on the shoulders of generations to come. But with every new discovery, there is risk, there is sacrifice, and there are consequences.”

After two mostly forgettable Hollywood films, the Fantastic Four doesn’t seem resigned to go gently into that good night.
