Tegan and Sara and The Lonely Island to perform 'Everything Is Awesome' at the Oscars

Though The Lego Movie may have indeed been snubbed in the Best Animated Feature category, at least part of the Oscar ceremony will be awesome. Tegan and Sara and The Lonely Island will perform “Everything Is Awesome,” producers announced today.

“Tegan and Sara and The Lonely Island?…..Everything Is Awesome, indeed. This is certainly an ‘Only on the Oscars’ moment,” producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan said in a statement.

The performance should hopefully inject a bit of absurdity into the proceedings. In a piece on Vulture that ran before the nominations, the movie’s director Phil Lord discussed the possibility of a performance: “I’m hoping Batman will do a little surprise cameo! That alone is reason enough.”

Here’s to holding out for Batman.
