Amazon orders second season of 'Mozart in the Jungle,' greenlights full seasons for five new shows

Amazon is welcoming viewers back to the jungle with its latest slate of original content.

Amazon announced today that it has renewed Mozart in the Jungle for a second season for Amazon Prime Instant Video. The show, which stars Gael Garcia Bernal as the new conductor for the New York Symphony, debuted its 10-episode first season last December. Amazon did not announce a release or production date for the second season but will reveal more details in the coming months.

Along with the renewal, Amazon also greenlit full seasons for five shows from its latest round of pilots, including two shows from its children’s show slate that will all eventually come to Prime Instant Video.

The Man in the High Castle, Mad Dogs, and The New Yorker Presents all received first-season orders, High Castle being Amazon’s most-watched original pilot yet. It and Mad Dogs will join Amazon’s drama and comedy series slate alongside Mozart, Transparent, and the newly premiered Bosch, while The New Yorker Presents is a documentary series.

Just Add Magic and The Stinky & Dirty Show, two of Amazon’s latest children-oriented pilots, were also given full season orders. No premiere dates have been set for any of the five series.

These shows will join Red Oaks, Hand of God, and children’s show Wishenpoof!, which are all set to premiere their first seasons in 2015, as will a second season of Transparent.
