Casting Net: Orlando Jones joins Jessica Biel, Jason Sudeikis in 'The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea'

  • Orlando Jones (Sleepy Hollow) has joined the cast of The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. The film’s cast currently includes Jessica Biel, Jason Sudeikis, Maisie Williams and Mary Steenburgen. Jones will play Cornelius Thibadeaux, aka “Dumbass,” who got his moniker from his strict and disapproving father. The character is described as affable and loyal, as he takes on the job of helping the introverted architect Henry (Sudeikis) build a raft for a homeless teen named Millie (Williams) to use to sail to a far away island, after Henry’s wife (Biel) is tragically killed in a car accident. Steenburgen will play Henry’s cold and aristocratic mother-in-law.The drama began production in New Orleans this week. [Variety]
  • Jane Levy (Suburgatory) has signed on to the action-thriller Bushwick. She will play 21-year-old Lucy, who emerges from a Brooklyn subway to find the neighborhood under attack. She decides to cross the five blocks of mayhem to get home to her grandmother. Production begins in early summer in New York. [Deadline]
  • David Arquette and Sean Patrick Flanery have joined the indie flick When the Starlight Ends. The film, a surreal dark comedy, recently began production in Los Angeles. The plot centers on a struggling writer who must confront the decisions that forced the love of his life to leave him. Arquette will play the writer’s story editor on the novel he is struggling to write, and Flanery will play his neighbor, who believes his wife is cheating on him. [The Wrap]
  • Christopher Denham (Manhattan) will join the cast of the thriller Money Monster. The film is directed by Jodie Foster and currently starring George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Jack O’Connell, and Caitriona Balfe. Clooney is playing Lee Gates, a television stock huckster whose program Money Monster and his own life are taken hostage by an enraged gunman (O’Connell). As the world watches live, Gates must keep himself alive and, with help from the show’s producer (Roberts), uncover the truth behind a tangle of big-money lies.
