'Hondo' star Ralph Taeger dies at age 78

Ralph Taeger, the star of 1960s TV series Hondo, died on March 11, his family announced Wednesday.

Taeger was 78 and had suffered from a longtime illness at the time of his death.

His role in Hondo was based on John Wayne’s character in the 1953 movie by the same name. Traeger also appeared in other ’60s TV shows such as Klondike, Acapulco and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. The actor played Walter Holmes in a 1964 episode of The Twilight Zone as well.

Also on Tager’s resume are roles in movies X-15 (1961), The Carpetbaggers (1964), Stage to Thunder Rock (1964), and A House Is Not a Home (1964).

Taeger is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda, and son Richard.
