Recurring cast for Scorsese's HBO rock 'n' roll drama promoted to series regulars

The actors originally cast as “recurring” in HBO’s untitled rock ‘n’ roll project—Paul Ben-Victor, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, James Jagger, and J.C. MacKenzie—have been promoted to regulars, now that the project has gotten a series order. The show, which comes from a production dream team of Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger, and Terence Winter, is set in 1970s New York, as punk and disco are emerging onto the drug-hazed, sex-crazed music scene, and record executive Richie Finestra (Bobby Cannavale) is trying to revitalize his label. Olivia Wilde also stars as Cannavale’s character’s wife.

James Jagger (Mick’s son) plays Kip Stevens, the lead singer of an early punk band called Nasty Bits; MacKenzie plays Skip Fontaine, Richie’s partner and Head of Sales for American Century Records; Sørensen (Pitch Perfect 2) plays Ingrid, Andy Warhol’s favorite Danish actress; and Ben-Victor plays a record company owner.

Production on the series is expected to begin this summer.
