The team that’s attempting to create a digitized version of Selena, who died in 1995, launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise money for the previously announced “walking, talking, singing, and dancing digital embodiment of iconic singer Selena Quintanilla.”

Acrovirt, LLC is working with researchers at the University of California, San Diego to create what they’re calling “Selena’s digital acrovirt,” and they’re looking to raise $500,000 to help cover the costs of the acrovirt’s creation, recording of new songs, three music videos, and her planned tour.

“We will be using the most advanced technology and the best programmers and engineers in the world,” the page says, “and we are collaborating with the best neuroscience and cognitive science university researchers in the world.” They’re also collaborating with Selena’s family—her sister and father appear in a video on the campaign site.

Rewards for donating range from a ticket to her tour ($50) to a virtual cameo in all three music videos ($2,000). See the other options over at the project’s Indiegogo site.
