The premium cable network gods have smiled upon us and given us the gift of early premieres for the Showtime series Happyish and Penny Dreadful. The former is making its series debut this weekend; the latter is returning for its second season next month.

Happyish, starring Steve Coogan, Kathryn Hahn and Bradley Whitford, is a comedy that examines whether pursuing happiness is a fool’s errand and settling for happyish is the best one can expect.” The series was originally set to star Philip Seymour Hoffman; Coogan replaced the Oscar winner following Hoffman’s death in 2014.

Penny Dreadful, starring Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton and Harry Treadaway is in a gothic horror category all its own. The series, which will also guest star Patti LuPone this season, incorporates stories from various pieces of gothic literature and spins them into its own wicked web.

Happyish premieres Sunday, April 26 at 9:30 p.m. ET and Penny Dreadful will return Sunday, May 3 at 10 p.m, both on Showtime.

Check out both premieres below.
