Grateful Dead reunion shows to be available via pay-per-view

Tickets to the “Fare Thee Well: Celebrating 50 Years Of Grateful Dead” tour sold out immediately in January, but for Deadheads who won’t be in the room for one of the band’s final performances, the Dead’s Chicago shows will be available on pay-per-view.

According to Rolling Stone, Live Alliance will produce the Grateful Dead’s July 3, 4, and 5 concerts at Chicago’s Soldier Field, in which the group’s four original members, along with Phish’s Trey Anastasio, will perform together one last time. CNBC’s Steve Liesman will host the pay-per-view special along with guest host Bill Walton, and intermissions will feature taped interviews, live fan interviews, and a short documentary on the band by Justin Kreutzmann. A video-on-demand option will also be available.

All five shows commemorating the band’s 50th anniversary will be available via an online streaming platform that is unknown at this time. From May 1 to May 15, Dead50.net, will offer fans presale for the webcast of all five nights for $79.95.

The reunion tour kicks off in Santa Clara, California, on June 27.
