Jenny Slate, Ari Graynor to star in FX road-trip comedy from 'Obvious Child' team

Jenny Slate and Ari Graynor are hitting the road for FX.

The pair will star in a comedy pilot in which they play two New York friends who are driving across the country after making a movie together, the network announced today. The untitled project reunites Slate, who starred in Obvious Child, with the indie romantic comedy’s director/writer, Gillian Robespierre, and producer Elisabeth Holm. Robespierre penned the pilot with Holm and will direct it, while both creators are serving as executive producers with Slate.

The pilot, which is described as “like Thelma and Louise — but nobody dies,” begins shooting tomorrow in New York City.

Slate, whose resume includes Parks and Recreation and Kroll Show, already has a relationship with FX: She is a co-star of Married, which returns for season 2 in July. Graynor starred on the short-lived CBS comedy Bad Teacher and counts For a Good Time, Call… and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist among her big-screen credits.
