NBC to release every episode of David Duchovny's Aquarius online after premiere

Here’s something you wouldn’t see in the 1960s: NBC has announced that all 13 episodes of David Duchovny’s Charles Manson miniseries Aquarius will be released online following its two-hour May 28 premiere. The series will be available via NBC.com, the NBC app, and all other video-on-demand platforms.

“With Aquarius we have the opportunity to push some new boundaries to give our audience something no broadcast network has done before,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt in a statement. “We are fully aware how audiences want to consume multiple episodes of new television series faster and at their own discretion, and we’re excited to offer our viewers this same experience since all 13 episodes of this unique show have been produced and are ready to be seen. I appreciate the enthusiasm we’ve gotten from the producers of the show and our partner Marty Adelstein of Tomorrow Studios to launch this series in a new, forward-thinking way.”

The full slate of episodes will remain online for four weeks while continuing to air each Thursday at 9 p.m., as scheduled. The arrangement will also allow the network to provide limited interruptions both on air and online by partnering with an exclusive group of advertisers.

Aquarius follows a Los Angeles police detective (Duchovny) tracking cult leader Charles Manson (Game of Thrones’ Gethin Anthony) during his rise in the late 1960s.
