Suge Knight, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Cle “Bone” Sloan, and Universal Studios have been sued for wrongful death by the widow of Knight’s friend Terry Carter, according to court documents acquired by EW.

In the lawsuit, Lillian Carter, on behalf of herself and her and Carter’s two daughters, states that Knight “carelessly, recklessly, violently, and negligently drove Vehicle 1 towards Bone … causing Vehicle 1 to strike Terry Carter and killing him.”

In her claim against Universal and the other parties, Lillian Carter says the defendants were negligent because they should have known about “the long-standing tensions that had existed over the years between Dr. Dre and Suge” and the fact “that Suge was a violent individual, who has been arrested several times in the past and charged with violent crimes…”

Carter seeks unspecified general and punitive damages, funeral costs, and court costs.

Dre and Knight founded Death Row Records together, but then their relationship went south, so much so that the former acquired a restraining order against the latter. The incident occurred at Tam’s Burgers—who’s also named in the suit—after a flare-up on the set of Straight Outta Compton on Jan. 29, where Dre did not want Knight anywhere near the set, according to the documents.

Since then, Knight has been arrested on suspicion of murder, to which he pleaded not guilty in April. He is being held without bail.
