Neil Young shares 'Wolf Moon' video ahead of 'Monsanto Years' release

Neil Young releases his thirty-sixth studio album, a protest record about big agriculture named The Monsanto Years, in less than three weeks. He recorded the album with Promise of the Real—a band led by Willie Nelson’s sons Lukas and Micah—and has now released a video for Monsanto Years track “Wolf Moon.”

Recorded at the Teatro Theater in Oxnard, Calif., the “Wolf Moon” video sticks to Young’s bare bones M.O., featuring only the main players performing the somber, acoustic-driven track.

That’s far from the vitriol Young has alluded to in the leadup to his the Monsanto Years release. “Monsanto is the poster child for the problems we’re having with the corporate government,” Young recently said at New York’s IFC Center. The Nelsons have echoed the anti-corporate sentiment. “Nobody likes Monsanto,” Lukas told Rolling Stone last month. “I’m really proud to be on this side of history with Neil.”

“Wolf Moon” refers to the full moon that rises in January; Young’s 1992 album Harvest Moon refers to the full moon that rises in September. Check out the clip below and stay tuned for The Monsanto Years, which hits shelves June 30.
