Mark Strong to star in Ivo van Hove's version of 'A View From the Bridge' on Broadway

The tortured longshoreman at the center of Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge is about to get another Broadway go, only this time he’s doing it in khakis. Busy British actor Mark Strong—best known on our shores for recent roles in Kingsman: The Secret Service and The Imitation Game among several others—will re-team with downtown theater master Ivo van Hove’s for the award-winning production of Miller’s gritty 1955 drama about Eddie Carbone (Strong), a married Brooklyn man who gets far too involved in his niece’s new romance with a immigrant Italian boy.

This new production, presented in an impressionistic, cube-like environ with modern-dress costuming, won Best Revival at London’s Olivier Awards earlier this year, with Strong taking the Best Actor in a Play prize as well. The 18-week run this fall will also star Nicola Walker, Phoebe Fox, Emun Elliott and Michael Gould—all holdovers from the U.K. mounting, and to give you a taste of what you can expect, the production already has a trailer so you can see the director’s unique, sensual vision of Miller’s work for yourself. A View From the Bridge was last seen on Broadway in an acclaimed 2010 production with Liev Schreiber and Scarlett Johansson, the latter of whom went on to win the Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her Main Stem debut.

Ivo van Hove’s A View From the Bridge wil play the Lyceum Theatre, with previews beginning October 21 and an opening night of November 12.
