Larry Wilmore to Rachel Dolezal: 'Lady, you are white'

During a segment subtitled “Crazypants White Lady Pretends to be Black,” Larry Wilmore shared his views on Rachel Dolezal, the former president of the NAACP’s Spokane chapter.

Throughout the segment on Monday’s The Nightly Show, Wilmore compared Dolezal to actress Laura Linney and addressed Dolezal saying she identifies as black.

“She considers herself black,” Wilmore said. “Let me see if I can clarify that. Much like climate change denial, this is not based on science. Sorry lady, you are white. You don’t get an opinion on this.”

Wilmore also took issue with Dolezal’s previous assertions that a random black man was her father and the hate crimes the former Howard University student claimed to have experienced.

“That’s not advancing civil rights,” Wilmore said. “That’s advancing civil wrongs.”
