Alison Brie fights sex addiction in 'Sleeping With Other People' trailer

Alison Brie’s character in Sleeping With Other People struggles with, well, sleeping with other people. Lainey is addicted to sex—a problem that leads her to reconnect with Jason Sukeikis, an old hook-up she bumps into at a 12-step program.

Sudeikis’ Jake is also a sex addict, and the two quickly bond over their shared obsession and newfound discipline—raising the stakes on the classic When Harry Met Sally theme that men and women can’t really be friends because the sex part always gets in the way. At one point in the trailer, the two insist on coming up with a safe word in case the sexual tension ever gets to be too tempting. (Brie suggests “avocado”; Sudeikis shoots it down for being “too sexual.”)

Sleeping With Other People is director Leslye Headland’s follow-up to 2012’s Bachelorette, and also stars Adam Scott, Amanda Peet, and Natasha Lyonne.

Sleeping With Other People arrives in theaters Sept. 11.
