Fresh off the announcement of an unauthorized Beverly Hills, 90210 movie, Lifetime has given the greenlight to an equally unauthorized pic about Melrose Place.

According to Lifetime, The Unauthorized Melrose Place Story will highlight all of the behind-the-scenes drama from early casting snags to Heather Locklear’s arrival to the series.

The original soapy drama premiered in 1992 and followed the lives of a group of 20-somethings living in Los Angeles. After seven seasons, the series called it quits in 1999. Melrose Place received the reboot treatment in 2009 by The CW, but it failed to take off and was canceled after only one season.

Lifetime’s Unauthorized Full House Story is also in the works, as the network released the first cast photo for the production last month.

Mark Griffiths (A Novel Romance) is set to direct and Dana Schmalenberg (Single Ladies) will write the script. Michael Larkin (Secrets in the Walls) and Howard Braunstein (The Informant!) will executive produce while Christian Bruyère (A Girl’s Best Friend) will produce.
