Amanda Peterson, who played Patrick Dempsey’s love interest in the 80s rom-com Can’t Buy Me Love, has died at 43.

The Associated Press reported that Peterson was found dead in her home in Greeley, Colorado on Sunday.

Peterson’s father told TMZ that the family had not heard from her since Friday. The cause of her death currently unknown.

Peterson had not acted since 1994, when she last appeared in Windrunners, but none of her roles were as big as Cindy in Can’t Buy Me Love. Dempsey’s Ronald makes a deal with Cindy, who’s in a financial bind, to pretend to be his girlfriend for a month.

She starred in TV shows A Year in the Life and Boone and made an appearance in Doogie Howser, M.D. Peterson also appeared in the River Phoenix and Ethan Hawke film Explorers, Annie, and Listen to Me.

Stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Donald Faison paid tribute to Peterson on Twitter after her death.
