Jake Gyllenhaal: Taylor Swift's 'Bad Blood' in background of 'GMA' interview

Either somebody at Good Morning America has a brilliant sense of humor, or the stars aligned for one perfectly awkward moment.

As Robin Roberts interviewed Jake Gyllenhaal on Monday to promote his latest film, Southpaw, Taylor Swift‘s “Bad Blood” could be heard playing in the background.

For the uninitiated, Gyllenhaal and Swift dated briefly in the fall of 2010 — just long enough for him to allegedly be the muse for her 2012 album Red on songs like “All Too Well,” “Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Red,” and more. (According to specific hints in the album’s liner notes, anyway.)

We weren’t the only ones who noticed — the Twittersphere also delighted in the funny coincidence:

Of course, “Bad Blood” is Swift’s current single and the star-studded video garnered a record-breaking 20.1 million views in just 24 hours. Like all of Swift’s singles, “Bad Blood” is basically everywhere — this can’t be the first time that one of her exes and/or frenemies has been accidentally haunted by her music.

As she promises in 1989‘s “Wildest Dreams”: “Someday when you leave me / I bet these memories follow you around.”
