Elizabeth Gillies stars as a young wannabe rockstar with plenty of potential on FX’s latest series Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll. Acting alongside Denis Leary and John Corbett, Gillies’ character Gigi is banking on success as she attempts to relaunch a former ’90s band called The Heathens, placing herself at the head of this flawed group of musicians.

But the actress had a few rockstar aspirations for her own life growing up. At 9 years old, Gillies wasn’t afraid to dream big, hoping to head to prom with one of the members of *NSYNC – JC Chasez.

“I really thought I was going to go home with one of them and be their girlfriend,” says Gillies, recalling her first-ever *NSYNC concert. “I didn’t think of anything sexual, I just thought, ‘that’s going to be my boyfriend, that’s like, so cool.'”

Watch Gillies recount that first concert experience, along with her childhood love for Avril Lavigne-style accessories for EW’s First and Worst video series. Fans can also check out how her costar Corbett pitched the show to the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, The Dalai Lama, and more, available here.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
