Christopher Guest's new movie 'Mascots' to premiere on Netflix in 2016

Fifteen years after he went behind the scenes of professional dog shows for Best in Show, Christopher Guest is taking on the fluffy world of mascots.

Adding to its rapidly growing list of original films, Netflix has announced that Guest’s new movie Mascots will premiere exclusively on the streaming service in 2016. This is the first feature film Guest will have directed since 2006’s For Your Consideration.

Casting and other additional information have yet to be announced, but the official description of Mascots reads: “Welcome to all the drama, intrigue, and occasional excitement of the 8th World Mascot Association Championships, where a group of ‘unusual’ men and women, with big heads and furry suits, compete to win the prestigious Gold Fluffy Award and be crowned best mascot in the world.”

Last month, Netflix announced premiere dates for the first four of its upcoming original films, including Beasts of No Nation, The Ridiculous Six, and Pee-wee’s Big Holiday.
