Got room for one more? The first trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight has arrived, covered in snowfall, intrigue and just a little bit of blood.

“For me it has more of a Western Iceman Cometh kind of vibe about it,” Tarantino told EW earlier this year about the film, his eighth feature and one that calls to mind his first, Reservoir Dogs, in its structural simplicity. “[It’s] a bunch of guys in a room who can’t trust each other. That wasn’t a marching order when I sat down to write the script, but pretty quickly I realized this is kind of a nice coming-full-circle.”

The cast includes a surfeit of Tarantino regulars — Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, and Bruce Dern all reunited with the filmmaker for the project — and three newbies to his world: Jennifer Jason Leigh, Demian Bichir, and Channing Tatum (who makes a cameo appearance in The Hateful Eight, and doesn’t seem to appear in the trailer).

“For me, it’s the same guy, but he has a lot more toys. He’s got all of the equipment to play with,” Roth, who starred in Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction (plus Tarantino’s segment of Four Rooms), said of the director during an interview with EW at Comic-Con. “He’s was born to do it, and he got to do it, and he does it well. And now he’s got a lot of things he can play around with. It was a lot of fun.”

In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…
