Sinister 2: Watch a terrifying clip from the horror sequel

Director Scott Derrickson scored a hit with the 2012 horror film Sinister, about a true-crime writer and father (Ethan Hawke), a box of snuff films, and a very — yes — sinister supernatural entity named Bughuul. But Derrickson and cowriter C. Robert Cargill decided to change things up for Sinister 2 (out Aug. 21), which this time around is directed by Ciarán Foy (Citadel) and stars Shannyn Sossamon as well as franchise returnee James Ransome.

“I knew it had to include Bughuul and the kill films,” says Derrickson, who will next direct the Benedict Cumberbatch-starring Marvel movie, Doctor Strange. “But I didn’t want to write the same movie again. A big part of it was finding a new creative point of view, which ended up being the children, seeing more of the movie through their points of view.”

Check back tomorrow for much more from Derrickson. Meanwhile, you can see a clip featuring one of the film’s young characters from Sinister 2 below.
