Elon Musk on Late Show: Stephen Colbert calls him a 'supervillain'

Elon Musk is a billionaire who wants to “do good things,” which means that, according to Stephen Colbert, Musk can be only one of two things: a superhero or a supervillain.

The businessman and entrepreneur stopped by The Late Show on Thursday to talk about the new Tesla snake charger and, at Colbert’s prompting, his desire to live on Mars — admittedly a “fixer-upper of a planet,” said Musk. “First you’re gonna have to live in transparent domes, but eventually you can transform Mars into an Earth-like planet” by warming it up. “There’s the fast way and the slow way,” Musk told Colbert, who naturally asked about the fast way: “The fast way is to drop thermonuclear weapons over the poles.”

“You’re a supervillain!” Colbert replied. “That’s what a supervillain does! Superman doesn’t say, ‘We’ll drop thermonuclear bombs.’ That’s Lex Luthor.”
