Keith Richards confirms new Rolling Stones record is on the way

The Rolling Stones will record for their first collection of new material since 2005’s A Bigger Bang next year. Keith Richards confirmed the news during an interview with iHeartRadio ICONS in support of his new solo album, Crosseyed Heart. The group will tour South America early 2016 and then head to the studio.

“I was in London last week and the boys and I got together,” Richards told host Jim Kerr. “And there are now definite plans to record,” he said as the group began to cheer. (Even Kerr offered a walloping, “Alright!”)

When EW spoke with Richards about his album, he was adamant in his attempts to get everyone together, “I’m trying to get the Stones into the studio,” he said. “But I don’t quite honestly see it happen this year. After we do South America in February and March, I’d love to get in the studio in April. But I know what those guys are like. When they finish a tour, they don’t want to do nothing! [Laughs]”
