Emmys 2015: Julia Louis-Dreyfus wins best actress in a comedy for Veep

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has won her fourth Emmy for playing Selina Meyer on HBO’s Veep.

“I think it would be appropriate at this moment to quote our political satire Veep: ‘What a great honor it must be for you to honor me tonight,’ ” the actress said during her acceptance speech. But then she recanted: “Oh wait, oh no, no, no, I’m so sorry. Donald Trump said that. It’s getting trickier and trickier to satirize this stuff.”

Louis-Dreyfus also thanked her fellow nominees, saying, “I’d like to honor all the women in this category. I love funny women. I love powerful, funny women.”

Louis-Dreyfus has been nominated four times for the role, and has won each time. She also has Emmys for her lead roles on The New Adventures of Old Christine and Seinfeld under her belt, and 16 acting nominations total.

Louis-Dreyfus beat out other frequent nominees including Parks and Recreation‘s Amy Poehler and Nurse Jackie‘s Edie Falco.

The actress celebrated her win last year by dramatically locking lips with one-time Seinfeld costar Bryan Cranston before boarding the stage.

Veep wrapped up its fourth season in June, and is set to return for its fifth next spring.
