Rose McGowan debuts music video

Rose McGowan debuted her first music video, directed by Jonas Åkerlund, on Monday and it’s a total trip. Made for her song, “RM486,” the clip shows McGowan nude, covered in paint, glitter, and costumes to create a colorful piece of performance art. The lyrics borrow from Blade Runner as she starts the song by whispering, “I’ve seen things that people can’t imagine. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion; I watched c-beams glitter in the dark. All those moments will be lost, in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.”

The track marks McGowan’s first musical release under her own name, and in an interview with Nowness, which premiered the video, she said, “In the last few years I’ve actually released some songs under different names, just me pranking the public. I woke up one day and [realized] I hated acting and that I’d always hated it. Imagine, it’s predominantly men whose scripts get done so it was mostly a male voice coming out of my mouth for 15 years.”

She spoke about becoming disillusioned with acting in an interview with EW earlier this year after debuting her short film Dawn. “I don’t know,” she said when asked if she was finished with acting for good. “I don’t have time is the main answer. And I don’t really feel like taking a vacation from my mind. That’s what happens – you leave your mind. And I did that for a really long time. It wasn’t that I wasn’t good at acting; I was. And I am. But I’m also good at other things that I don’t do.”
