Nancy Meyers’ new movie, The Intern, follows 70-year-old Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro), who’s looking to break out of retirement and get back into the workplace. A bit of a fish-out-water, he finds a home at a company run by an ambitious CEO, Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway), and the two soon develop an unlikely friendship.

In this exclusive featurette, the cast and crew of The Intern look back on some of Meyers’ most memorable films, and how The Intern delivers Meyers’ signature comedic style.

“Nancy has a certain precision for comedy,” De Niro says. “That’s the kind of film that Nancy does; it’s a very, in some ways, classic Hollywood comedy.”

Though Meyers is best known for rom-coms like The Holiday, Something’s Gotta Give, and It’s Complicated, The Intern offers up a different kind of bond that goes beyond the romantic. “I always wanted to make a movie about a friendship between a man and a woman that didn’t have to cross over into any other place,” Meyers says.
