The Affair just added a little Sex to season 2.
Sex and the City vet Cynthia Nixon will guest-star on the Showtime drama, the network announced Thursday. Nixon’s character is named Marilyn Sanders, and she’s a blunt Manhattan couple’s therapist who is trying to help Noah (Dominic West) and Alison (Ruth Wilson) “come together after a period of strain.”
Season 2 unspools its story from four different persectives and delves into the ramifications of an extra-marital relationship that wrecked two marriages and the crime that binds together these four individuals, who also include Noah’s ex-wife, Helen (Maura Tierney), and Alison’s ex, Cole (Josh Jackson).
The Emmy-winning Nixon, whose recent credits include The Adderall Diaries and Hannibal, will next star in Sundance award-winning drama James White, which is being released next month. Nixon’s Affair episode is slated to air later in the season, which debuts Oct. 4 at 10 p.m.
