Finale Spectre trailer: James Bond is back

In the final trailer for Spectre, out Nov. 6, James Bond brings the house down. As in, literally, bringing a rather attractive building crashing down to its foundation.

We see Daniel Craig, in his fourth go-around as the double-oh-agent, fire a high-tech assault rifle into the masonry of an ornate building that starts to crumble upon impact. As it falls toward our hero scrambling away on an adjoining rooftop, the spy jumps for his life: a blurred figure in a creamy bespoke suit freefalling through a cascade of shrapnel and debris.

In the new teaser, Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz is strictly business as 007’s mysterious nemesis Oberhauser. “Why did you come?” he coos at Bond — intercut with the image of Craig busting off shots at the character through what appears to be a pane of bulletproof glass.

“I came here to kill you,” replies Bond, emanating deadly sang froid.

Oberhauser: “And I thought you came here to die.”

“Well, it’s all a matter of perspective,” says Bond smizing at his enemy.

There are Range Rovers out-runing explosions on an alpine hillside, Bond in a resplendent white dinner jacket exchanging punches with an unknown foe, a pair of sports cars gunning engines through the streets of Rome and a helicopter performing an extraordinary barrel roll over a zocalo in Mexico City.

Does it reveal much about the movie’s plot line? Does it do anything to explain how “a cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to discover a sinister organization” — one that Lea Seydoux’s character Dr. Madeleine Swann identifies as none other than Spectre in the trailer? No. But it all still looks undeniably awesome.
