The Real World is returning to Las Vegas for the show’s upcoming 31st season, MTV announced Monday.

The reality TV show first went to Sin City in 2002 for the series’ 12th season and set a return engagement for its 25th season in 2011. Previously, the seven strangers shacked up in the Palms Casino and Resort and the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino; this time, they’ll be settling down in the penthouse suite of downtown Las Vegas’ Gold Spike.

“Las Vegas is an iconic film destination and I’m thrilled to welcome MTV downtown,” Las Vegas mayor Carolyn G. Goodman said in a statement. “While Real World viewers have seen the show in Las Vegas before, they haven’t seen it played out with a vintage flair in our vibrant downtown.”

Although The Real World is no stranger to repeating destinations — San Diego, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New Orleans have all hosted twice — Las Vegas will now join New York as the only city to host the series three times.

The season doesn’t have an official premiere date yet, but production began Monday.
