Singing that song and making that music video gave Adam Levine a swell idea.

The Maroon 5 crooner is teaming with director David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) to make a pilot for NBC that’s inspired by Maroon 5’s hit music video for “Sugar,” which has amassed close to 1 billion views.

The plan by Levine and Co. is to “feature unsuspecting superfans who receive the biggest surprise of their lives when the stars they love ‘accidentally’ show up at milestone events.” Levine and the team will work with “improv experts” to create an element of surprise in a variety of events, from a bachelorette party to a wedding. (Note to NBC: Levine is welcome to arrange a visit by George Clooney to one of my daughter’s soccer games.)

In the “Sugar” music video that was shot in December, Levine begins by saying he and the group will try to hit “every wedding they possibly can.” The group then jumps into their Entourage-like convertible to go give lots of couples and their guests one helluva surprise.
