Sam Rockwell hunts for the Holy Grail in Don Verdean trailer

Indiana Jones, he is not.

Directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite), who co-wrote the script with his wife, Jerusha Hess, Don Verdean stars Sam Rockwell as the titular biblical archaeologist, who’s recruited to bring back religious artifacts from Israel to bolster morale in American churches. But when his search for the skull of Goliath comes up empty, he turns to less-than-scrupulous means.

Amy Ryan and Jermaine Clement also star, with Will Forte and Danny McBride playing feuding church leaders.

Don Verdean will hit theaters on Dec. 11. Watch the trailer above.
