Kel Mitchell on Kenan Thompson feud: Says he stays in touch with former Nick costars

It’s been 15 years since the finale of Kenan & Kel, and while the series’ stars have gone their separate ways, Kel Mitchell says that he still keeps in touch with all of his former Nick costars — including Kenan Thompson.

“We all stay in contact via Twitter and Facebook,” Mitchell told People during a recent interview. “We are all over the place working on different projects, but we all try to stay in contact as much as possible.”

Rumors circulated in recent years of a potential feud between Mitchell and the SNL star, but the two appeared together on The Tonight Show this year, resurrecting their iconic “Good Burger” sketch with the addition of host Jimmy Fallon. Mitchell told Peoplethat he “hit a wall” back in 2004, following the cancellation of his sitcom, as fewer work opportunities were coming his way. But now, he’s back at Nickelodeon in Game Shakers.

“It’s funny. A lot of the fans come up to me, but it’s the mom plus the kid,” Mitchell said. “The mom will be, like, ‘I was following Kel back in the ’90s. I was the original fan.’ And the daughter is, like, ‘I saw him on Sam and Kat.’ It’s pretty awesome. I’ve got the whole family watching now.”
