Leah Remini on John Travolta, Scientology, Kirstie Alley

When actress Leah Remini stopped by SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show on Tuesday to discuss her new memoir Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, she also addressed two of the church’s most high-profile members: John Travolta and Kirstie Alley.

Remini called Travolta — who expressed his support for Scientology in April after the release of the documentary Going Clear — “such a sweet man.”

“He loves the technology of Scientology. He loves it. He believes in it,” said the former King of Queens star, adding that she had problems getting her fellow parishioners to speak out about the church.

“It was like they would just turn their backs on me,” said Remini, who left the church in 2013.

Stern also asked the actress about Kirstie Alley, who visited his radio show in January and spoke against Remini.

“I understood it, because I know the policy,” Remini said. “So I understand that hiding behind religious bigotry is the route to go.” She added that she “wasn’t hurt” by Alley’s remarks.
