New Girl: Peter Gallagher cast as Schmidt's father

Peter Gallagher is set to guest-star on the new season of New Girl as Schmidt’s (Max Greenfield) father, EW has confirmed.

Gallagher portrayed The O.C.’s beloved dad, Sandy Cohen, for four seasons on the Fox series. And as fans of the teen drama remember, Greenfield appeared as a young Sandy back in 2007.

The actor will appear in one episode of the Fox comedy’s fifth season, as TVLine first reported.

Greenfield took to Twitter to share his excitement over the news, writing, “This is the greatest.” Most recently, Fox announced Megan Fox would be joining the show for a multi-episode arc, with more information on that available here.
