Gambit may have found its director.

Edge of Tomorrow helmer Doug Liman is in talks to direct Channing Tatum in the superhero film for Fox, a source confirms to EW. Fox did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Liman is no stranger to action films; the Tom Cruise-starring sci-fi flick Edge of Tomorrow was praised by critics. And Liman previously directed action blockbusters The Bourne Identity and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Gambit, due in theaters Oct. 7, 2016, will see Tatum as the fan-favorite Marvel Comics character, who can manipulate energy to cause explosions. He wields a deck of cards and plenty of charm. Spectre actress Lea Seydoux is slated to play the film’s female lead, Bella Donna Boudreaux, the leader of a guild of assassins.

News of Liman’s negotiations to direct arrives after Rise of the Planet of the Apes filmmaker Rupert Wyatt left the project in September, citing scheduling conflicts.

Tatum will produce Gambit along with Simon Kinberg, Lauren Shuler Donner, and Reid Carolin.
