On stage, you know her as Miss Lynch. On film, she’s Principal McGee, memorably played by Eve Arden. In Fox’s Grease: Live, she’ll just be “Principal” — and that’s all you need to know about the only real authority figure at Rydell High.

Ana Gasteyer has joined the cast of Fox’s live broadcast of Grease playing the school’s aforementioned Principal, a strict but well-meaning, easily frazzled, impossibly un-hip (despite her best wishes) administrator who oversees the high school misbehavior of the Pink Ladies and T-Birds.

Most fans know Gasteyer from her days slaying Saturday Night Live, but her musical theater chops were proven by her turns on Broadway — particularly, her stint playing Elphaba in Wicked — and her debut album I’m Hip. She currently recurs on The Goldbergs on ABC and The Good Wife on CBS.

Gasteyer joins another resident Grease adult, Mario Lopez, who’ll play school dance DJ Vince Fontaine, and a cast of youngsters who make up the musical’s two primary social groups: The Pink Ladies (Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo, Keke Palmer as Marty, Carly Rae Jepsen as Frenchy, Kether Donohue as Jan, and Julianne Hough as new girl Sandy) and the T-Birds (Aaron Tveit as Danny Zuko, Carlos PenaVegas as Kenickie, David Del Rio as Putzie, Jordan Fisher as Doody, and Andrew Call as Sonny).

Grease: Live premieres on Jan. 31 on Fox.
