Harry Potter: Daniel Radcliffe says seeing another actor play role would be 'very weird'

Daniel Radcliffe won’t play Harry Potter when Harry Potter and the Cursed Child debuts on London’s West End in 2016, but the actor has mixed feelings about seeing someone else pick up the wand.

“I’m getting asked a lot, ‘Would you play him?’ and I’m like, ‘No.’ Because I’ve done it. But it would be very weird to see someone else play him,” Radcliffe told host Andy Cohen on Thursday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live.

Radcliffe, of course, is also too young to play Potter in the two-part play, which author J.K. Rowling developed with playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany. The story takes place 19 years after the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and focuses on Potter’s youngest son, Albus. Radcliffe is 26.

Radcliffe also won’t appear in the other massive Harry Potter project coming in 2016, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but he did have some words for star Eddie Redmayne.

“I haven’t given him any advice at all. I imagine he doesn’t need it. He’s won an Oscar,” Radcliffe said of Redmayne. “But I’m sure he’ll have a great time. If there’s any good advice on being on those films, it’s just like enjoy it because to be on any big movie like that you get to do stuff that you just don’t get to do all the time. Like stunts and crazy sequences and that stuff’s awesome. I would just say enjoy the hell out of it.”
