Mariah Carey in A Christmas Melody with Lacey Chabert: Exclusive sneak peek

Mariah Carey — who you may know as many things, including the director of such Mariah Carey videos as “Always Be My Baby” and “Fantasy” — gets her big break behind the camera with A Christmas Melody, a new Hallmark Channel musical holiday movie debuting Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. ET.

The movie stars Mean Girls vet Lacey Chabert as Kristin, a divorced clothing designer in Los Angeles who is forced to move back home with her daugher to Ohio. There, she runs into her old rival from high school, Melissa (played by the multi-tasking Carey, who you may also know as the megaplatinum singer who released one of the biggest-selling holiday albums of all time with Merry Christmas). Melissa now reigns as the president of the PTA, wields a huge diamond ring, and is totally married to a dentist. In other words, Carey, not Chabert is the one playing the mean girl here.
