Amazon drone commercial features Jeremy Clarkson

Taken one way, Amazon’s new commercial promoting the company’s upcoming drone delivery program is a preview smartly timed to Cyber Monday, hinting at how soon customers will obtain products on future sales days. Looked at another way, the commercial is a sign of the Amazon-dominated future to come, which includes colorful drones soaring through the skies and the return of Jeremy Clarkson.

The former Top Gear presenter appears in a new commercial for Amazon’s upcoming Prime Air program, showing off the newly redesigned drones, which have a much more friendly and cheerful build than their metallic predecessors. Offering delivery like a pizza, in 30 minutes or less, Clarkson narrates a look at how the Prime Air drones will work to bring products right to users’ doorsteps (or backyards, depending on space availability).

Clarkson, along with his former Top Gear co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May, also play a part in Amazon’s vision of the future, as the trio is set to star in a new Amazon series debuting in 2016.

Unlike the promised delivery window of the drones, there’s no firm date for when Amazon will begin using the drones, but testing has begun in multiple countries. Watch the trailer above to see one of the drones in flight.
