“Maybe it’s the Gotham City in me, we just have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns,” Bruce Wayne tells Clark Kent early in the new trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ouch. Batman might not have heat-ray vision, but that definitely qualifies as a burn.

The trailer debuted on Wednesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! in which the comedian interviewed star Ben Affleck, who brought along the latest ad for Zack Snyder’s championship fight between comics’ two most famous men in tights, or, as Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor sells it, “The greatest gladiator match in the history of the world.”

The third time’s a charm, as the newest spot reveals more than ever of the Man of Steel sequel’s various plot elements, the most prominent of which being the appearance of an apocalyptic, gray monstrosity that looks a whole lot like Doomsday, the extremely powerful killing machine best known for as the individual responsible for Superman’s “death” in the comics. (Based on the trailer, he’s presumably created by Luthor using a little Zod juice and a lot of trial and error.)

The new trailer also features the most we’ve seen so far of Eisenberg’s giddy, Millennial-billionaire take on the classic, follicly challenged villain, along with a final image that gets us halfway to a Justice League, as the two caped heroes put aside their ideological differences and join forces with Wonder Woman to take on the new threat.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice crashes into theaters on March 25, presumably with little regard for collateral damage.
