You never know where or when you might be blessed with a Bill Murray sighting — except where/when you do. So after Netflix’s A Very Murray Christmas on Friday, mark your calendars for Jan. 17, when the enigmatic star pops up on Angie Tribeca, Rashida Jones’ new TBS police procedural parody created by Steve and Nancy Carell.

Murray guest-stars as a power-player financier–turned–grocery-store employee named Vic Deakins, who bonds (and flirts) with Jones’ hard-edged detective. “Tribeca is at a crossroads and she’s instructed to take a break,” says Jones. “We hang out when I’m trying to deal with my workaholism.” What can audiences expect from Deakins? “It’s impossible for Bill Murray not to be charismatic and mysterious,” she notes. “We’re slightly not sure what’s up with him.”

TBS will debut all of season 1’s 10 episodes in a 25-hour commercial-free marathon that begins Jan. 17 at 9 p.m. ET, and in the premiere, viewers will meet a curious character (Lisa Kudrow, seen in bottom photo with Jones and costar Hayes MacArthur) who has ties to a mayor that’s being blackmailed over his tattoos. “She’s presenting herself as the saucy mistress who knows a lot,” says Jones, “and then it turns out she’s kind of a crazy cat lady.” Angie Tribeca: where cool cats and crazy cat ladies come to play.
